Word and God’s hand

For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observation of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel. Ezra 7:10

It’s interesting that a Babylonian King Artaxerxes would commission Ezra, a Jewish captive to take his people to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple of God. Why? It was a result of Ezra devoting himself to the study and observation of the Law of the Lord. The king granted all that he requested “because the hand of the Lord his God was upon him”.

If the Word of the Lord is in you, the hand of the Lord will be upon you. It is that simple. Reading, learning, and living the Word of God (The Bible), will have amazing results. God’s hand was strong upon Ezra to the point of a pagan King recognizing the favor upon his life and granting him all of his requests. I wonder what favor we forfeit, what blessings we miss, and what answers to prayer never come because we make light of the Word of God in our lives. If we want His strong hand upon us, we must intentionally place His Word in us.

God, make us people of your Word. May we embrace the Good News everyday and “hide it in our hearts” that we may not sin against you. Help us to value your Word above all other words enough to read it, learn it, and live it.

Heard in prayer

Train my people to love my Word more than all other Words. Teach them the joy of applying my Word and watching my hand strong upon their everyday lives. For I want to work powerfully through them to influence others to know Me and to know their purpose and live it.
